excursion to Pfaffenbronn

It has always (i.e. as long as I can remember) been a point of discussion - when did the staff at Eurocontrol first go to Pfaffenbronn for the nowadays traditional "Pflammkuchenessen"?
Some claim it was already 1976, but I'm almost certain it must have been one or two years later. Historians will in the future probably try to find indicies that will stop this discussion.
In any case the first Pfaffenbronn excursion was only one of several excursions made in the first years of the history of Eurocontrol Karlsruhe, but it has turned into a tradition - even if, during several years, there was always some opposition: "There are so made nice places in the region - why do we always go to Pfaffenbronn". But you can't fight against traditions - since almost thirty years we now have our Pfaffenbronn excursion. This year the excursion will take place on the 30th of June (even if the old "rule" said that the excursion will always take place on the last Thursday of June except when this day happens to be the 30th)!
The day will follow the normal scheme. All participants (i.e. all active staff - almost obligatory - and as many old colleagues as we can find) meet at the Eurocontrol centre in Karlsruhe, we all take place in a bus (nowadays one is sufficient - normally) that will drive us to some place far away from Pfaffenbronn. Here we have to leave the bus, and make the rest of the journey by foot. Even if we normally always go the same path there is always some discussion about which path is the correct one, and there is almost always at least one or two staff members that goes lost. But in most cases, with sometimes very long time difference, everyone drops in at the restaurant in Pfaffenbronn, where we have lots of Flammkuchen and wine. To our relief we then find that also the bus driver have succeeded to find the restaurant, so we don't have to walk back!
If you are interested to participate (and once worked for our centre) you should rapidly take contact with our secretary, as sufficient seats (in the bus, and in the restaurant) must be reserved.
